At the time, Big Love was Simply Red’s first studio album in eight years since Stay and coincided with the 30^th anniversary of their first album Picture Book. The album is one of Simply Red’s 14 UK top 10 albums, peaking at number 4, and produced three new singles in Shine On, The Ghost Of Love and Love Gave Me More. Big Love is Mick Hucknall referred to his acceptance of Simply Red being a blue-eyed soul group when writing the album, feeling like he wasn’t fighting against that idea.
