Summary

Originally released in 1988, OU812 is the eighth studio album from American rock band Van Halen.

What’s the hook?

Released on 24th May 1988, OU812 is the eighth studio album from American rock band Van Halen. It is the second Van Halen album to feature vocalist Sammy Hagar and includes some of the band‘s most ambitious instrumental work.

OU812 shows the band settling in quite well with frontman Sammy Hagar. Largely self-produced, the album was built upon riffs and lyrics that Hagar and Eddie Van Halen had written whilst on tour promoting their previous album 5150. OU812 was dedicated to Eddie and Alex Van Halen’s father, who passed away 2 years prior to the albums release.

The album hit number 1 on the US Billboard 200 and went on to be certified 4x Platinum in the US.
