1984 is the sixth studio album from American Rock band Van Halen. The album features the single ‘Jump’, Van Halen’s only Number 1 single.

Now one of the biggest bands in the world, Van Halen released their much anticipated sixth album 1984 on 9th January 1984. This was the final album to feature all four original band members of Van Halen.
Guitarist Eddie Van Halen had begun to incorporate synthesizers into the band’s songwriting and this was showcased on 1984, being one of the first hard rock bands to do so. The album includes some of Van Halen’s most recognised songs including ‘Panama’ and ‘Hot For Teacher’ and the band’s only number one single, ‘Jump’.
1984 was a commercial success and went on to sell over 10 million copies, achieving diamond status in the US and Gold in the UK. The album was received well by music critics with AllMusic awarding the album 5 stars out of 5. Rolling Stone ranked the album number 81 on its list of the 100 Greatest Albums of the 1980s.
