Astral Weeks (Expanded Edition) (1CD)
Released in 1968, Astral Weeks is the second studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison.
Morrison's debut for Warner Bros. was a gorgeous song-cycle framing the singer's bluesy incantations with sympathetic accompaniment from top jazz and classical players; this one-of-a-kind set consistently ranks near the top of critics' lists of all-time great albums. This Expanded Edition adds four previously unreleased bonus tracks, including alternate takes of “Beside You” and “Madame George.”
Astral Weeks is viewed as one of rock's greatest records and a culturally significant work. AllMusic's William Ruhlmann said its reputation among critics was justified because "unlike any record before or since," it "encompasses the passion and tenderness that have always mixed in the best post-war popular music".
